Grow Your Own At Home

2013 - Present

This exciting project which Groundwork Greater Nottingham are delivering in partnership with Gedling homes will see the development of three growing areas on communal land at Gedling Homes’ properties. Once complete the growing areas will be used to teach tenants and residents how to plant, grow, harvest, cook, and eat their own fruit and vegetables.

The project aims to give Gedling Homes’ tenants and residents a fun, healthy activity they can share together, whilst encouraging local people to adopt healthier lifestyles, and offering access to a range of fresh and affordable foods for home cooking.

At the end of the growing courses participants will have the skills and knowledge to maintain their growing areas, it is hoped that they will continue to be used to raise crops year on year, and that this model of communal food growing can be rolled out to other areas of social housing.
