Orston School Tree Planting

2010

In 2010 Groundwork Greater Nottingham undertook a tree planting project in conjunction with Lafarge and Orston Primary School.

The aim of the project was to support Lafarge as part of a cement recycling scheme offsetting the environmental impact of cement production, whilst supporting Orston Primary school in improving it’s school grounds and providing pupils with environmental education activities

Groundwork Greater Nottingham helped the school to identify the best place for the installation of a small woodland before going on to delineate the area with fencing, and leading the pupils in planting the trees which when fully mature would create the woodland.

We also worked with the school to develop and run a range of environmental education activities for pupils of all ages providing teachers with ideas for curriculum related activities which could be replicated in the school grounds to ensure ongoing educational benefit of the woodland area.
